It was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Located in University City in Sharjah, the university is a not-for-profit, independent institution of higher education formed on the American higher education model. It is a very diverse university that brings together more than 6,000 students from more than 99 countries.

Program description
The Master of Business Administration prepares students for leadership positions in the private and public sectors. The curriculum, taught in the evening, is modelled on the American model of higher education and requires the completion of 10 core courses and two electives. The core courses cover the principles of analysis and leadership skills expected of an executive manager. Two elective courses from among the many offered are required for a general MBA while an additional elective (with all three taken in the same area) is required to complete a concentration in either finance or human resource management.
