Who Evaluates Your MBA Application? (Video)

Many people are going to review your MBA application before any decisions are made. No two schools share the same application process, but in this video you will hear an example of what the process could look like at any given school as well as some tips on how to give off your best in your application documents.

First, your application would be read by an admissions officer. Then it will be passed on to a second person, who would do the same evaluation. Should they be in agreement, then you might be up for an interview request. If they also are in agreement that you’re not the right fit for the school, it could lead to a rejection. If they’re in disagreement, your file could be passed on to a third person, who would again evaluate your profile.

That was just one scenario. What’s most important here is not how the process works, but how you can best utilise your application to reveal the most about yourself. Here are some tips that will help you do just that:

  1. Test scores are not everything

Your GMAT or GRE score isn’t always the most important thing. The admissions committee is going to look at a lot of other things in your profile.

  1. Make your entire application strong

First impressions mean a lot. You have no idea which part of your profile the admissions’ officers will read first. Someone might start with your first essay, whereas others might start with your resume. This is why all your documents need to be written in the best possible way.

  1. Make your application easy to read

You want the people evaluating your application to be able to dive into your story and learn things about you by not having to dig for them. You can do that by writing in a compelling and narrative way. If you have information, make it easy to find. For instance, if you’re in the top 10% of your class, get that on your resume, so they don’t have to search for it.
