Business school information

The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's ancient universities. The university is deeply embedded in the fabric of the city of Edinburgh, with many of the buildings in the historic Old Town belonging to the university. The university played an important role in leading Edinburgh to its reputation as a chief intellectual centre during the Age of Enlightenment, and helped give the city the nickname of the Athens of the North.

Study in United Kingdom

  • The United Kingdom is one of the world’s leading financial centers. Other sectors that contribute to the UK’s economy include manufacturing, services, construction, and tourism.
  • There are 162 higher education institutions in the country, which are all held to strict standards by the government and feature strongly in world rankings. Each year, about 450,000 international students study in the UK.
  • International students who have successfully completed an undergraduate or Master’s degree will be able to benefit from two years’ work experience in the UK upon graduation.

Program description

The Executive MBA is a taught program delivered by experienced internal and visiting faculty, and complemented by guest practitioner speakers from industry. Over a two year period, the Executive MBA combines short bursts of classroom interaction with week-long intensive study sessions (six weeks across two years). This program will next commence in August 2020. . Most courses involve visiting Edinburgh once a month for two days (Friday/Saturday) of lectures and seminars. Classes run from 8:30 am to 9pm on Friday and from 8.30 am to 6 pm on Saturday. In year one, students study circa eight core courses in major disciplines; this is the foundation upon which the whole MBA is built. In addition, students select three specialist option courses in year two. The program finishes with a Capstone assignment, which can be a career-enhancing research project, internship, business plan, or consulting activity.
